Frequently Asked Questions

"Our 3 most common asked questions with detailed answers

written by the person who actually does the work "

Question 1: Can you give me a quote off the plans ?

Generally No , the plans tell us what goes where and what level is required and gives us the dimensions of the project It cant tell us what the access is like , what the site already looks like , or what machines are required. We must view the site before we can issue a formal quotation. We take our quote process quite seriously , we are not a business that starts adding on costs mid job. Our quotes come with absolute transparency , we price our work our from 20 + years of experience any additional costs are clearly outlined in your quotation prior to your acceptance

Question 2: What type of equipment do you have ?

We have a range of different equipment including 2 tracked skid steer loaders , Various size excavators from 1.7 ton through to 30 Ton , Rollers and tippers. We carry a full range of attachments including excavator grabs and various size augers for post holes. We carry all tools required on a job from water pumps to generators. As we primarily work on large and remote rural properties we carry a full range of tools and equipment as we don't often have access to power or water

Question 3: What happens if you hit rock ?

This is the question that scares a lot of people , hitting a huge rock shelf can double the cost of a project and more however there is a lot that can be done to minimise this risk . The first thing is hitting rock is generally not a surprise, although we can not see it there are a lot of indications if you know what you are looking for. When we do a site assessment we look at the site and estimate the chances of rock , what type of rock and what are our options if we do strike it . Many times we can just pull the rocks out with the bigger machines and in most cases if we do hit a major rock shelf we can get an amendment from the engineer to raise the levels. Its very rare that we have to actually break the rock out and if we do , its usually only one small corner or section. On your quote you will see a section that says Rock Clause , this outlines the procedure and costs associated with removing rock so you know upfront what the chanes are , what we can do to avoid it , how much it will cost should it happen. In 25 years over hundreds of jobs all over Victoria I have only ever had one job that had so much rock it had to be re quoted

For most projects , The site excavation is the first step

It is critical to ensure the site is cut to the

correct levels leaving the area clean & accessible

so the next stage can begin without delay

What Is The Process To Complete A Project?

We use a proven 5 step process to ensure your project is

managed & completed to the highest possible standards

  • Site assessment & mapping to establish datum points & survey levels

  • Bulk earthworks to remove all excess material

  • Detailed excavation for pies, footings or specific site features

  • Drainage & erosion control managing water flow to mitigate damage to surrounding areas

  • Final trim & compaction leaving the site stabalized, leveled and ready for the next stage

Using our 5 step process we were able to help this client achieve

a two tier site cut splitting the level of the

property. This enabled a retaining wall to be constructed

to support the installation of a

swimming pool
