Everything you need to know about site assessments , pricing & project timelines
We’re here to answer your most common questions about our Earthmoving & Excavation services.
Generally the cost is based on the size of the project , the access for machinery , the type of ground & the possibillty of rock. The other consideration is excess material , do we need to transport it off site or can it be used on site , this can heavy influence the project cost
To restore or clean out an existing dam you do not need a permit . To construct a new dam a permit may be required . Check with your local council as the requirements are different depending on your property size and if the new dam will be part of an existing water way or not . The process usually involves an application for a planning permit with details of the size and location of the new dam . We can assist you with the application should you require one
Most areas in Central Victoria have a 100 - 200mm top soil cover with a clay layer between 200mm and 1 meter deep. There are exceptions to this in areas closer to The Great Dividing Range, generally the chance of surface rock increases around mountains or valleys . For most driveways and access roads a 100mm deep cover of class 4 20mm aggregate compacted and rolled will be adequate to handle frequent and heavy traffic . For areas with a higher flood probability a 50mm - 80mm base of 40mm aggregate compacted and rolled should be installed prior and then top dressed with a 100mm deep class4 20mm aggregate compacted and rolled
Project timelines vary depending on the scope of work. We provide detailed estimates and work with you to ensure timely completion, keeping you informed throughout the process.
This is the question that scares a lot of people , hitting a huge rock shelf can double the cost of a project and more however there is a lot that can be done to minimise this risk . The first thing is hitting rock is generally not a surprise, although we can not see it there are a lot of indications if you know what you are looking for. When we do a site assessment we look at the site and estimate the chances of rock , what type of rock and what are our options if we do strike it . Many times we can just pull the rocks out with the bigger machines and in most cases if we do hit a major rock shelf we can get an amendment from the engineer to raise the levels. Its very rare that we have to actually break the rock out and if we do , its usually only one small corner or section. On your quote you will see a section that says Rock Clause , this outlines the procedure and costs associated with removing rock so you know upfront what the chanes are , what we can do to avoid it , how much it will cost should it happen. In 25 years over hundreds of jobs all over Victoria I have only ever had one job that had so much rock it had to be re quoted
Yes, all site visits and quotes are free with no obligation . Most site visits in The Macedon Ranges & Mitchell Shire areas can be arranged the next day , for site visits further out such as Bendigo or Echuca areas I generally try and schedule them around current work in that area so those can be arranged within 7 days . The site visit is the most important part , its almost impossible to provide a price based on a set of plans I need to see the area that we are working on and its not just about the price , its a chance for us to meet and discuss the requirements , you want to hire someone you feel confident with and trust. I have won a lot a more jobs based on how perspective clients feel about me rather than what I charge
Yes , we have a range of smaller machines to handle any tight access work. Steep sites require a different approach to the job , we can work on almost any steep site , the actual work itself is not that difficult , steep sites require a different approach and a higher level of safety , a good example of this would be rock barriers installed.Pulling out big round rocks on flat ground is easy but on a steep site one slip and that can rock can become a 800 kg missile and there is no stopping it . So for all work on steep sites we evaluate what could happen , what is below us , many times we will build a barrier out of dirt before removing rocks so if any get loose they get trapped , its just about being aware and approaching the job from the right perspective. In 20 years we have never had an accident where anyone was seriously hurt or any clients property destroyed
We carry $10,000,000 public liability insurance which is the requirement by most Councils including The Macedon Ranges , Mitchell and Bendigo shires . We are trade qualified in concrete & landscape construction and carry all appropriate operating certifications for machinery
We stand by our work and our reputation. Our job isn't finished just because the machinery is back on the trailer. We remain available to all our clients for any ongoing assistance or advice long after the project is complete.
No guesswork and no hidden 'surprises.' Our clients value our honest approach; we provide comprehensive, line-item quotes that outline exactly what you're paying for. If there's a potential for variation, you'll know about it before we start, so you're always in control of the budget.
We respect your time. While the Victorian weather and machinery can sometimes be unpredictable, our commitment to communication isn't. If a delay occurs, you'll hear from us immediately. We keep you in the loop at every stage so you're never left wondering about the status of your project.
At the end of the day, our business is built on your satisfaction. We don't just aim to get the job done; we aim to deliver the highest quality result possible, every single time.
